There is a question that Jerry Colonna often asks the leaders he works with: “How have I contributed to creating the very situations I’m complaining about?” It’s not a comfortable question, but it’s one that opens the door to leading from a more honest place, with greater clarity and less burnout.
Jerry calls this “radical self-inquiry,” and he has mastered the art of helping leaders do just that. He is known as the “CEO whisperer.”
In this conversation, we’ll explore:

- why being a great leader requires being a great human
- how to navigate contradictions and conflicts to grow as an individual while building a company

Who is Jerry Colonna?
Jerry is a former venture capitalist and the co-founder and CEO of Reboot, a leadership coaching and development firm. He works with founders, CEOs and executive teams, helping them navigate those moments when their external success doesn’t align with their internal experience.
He is the author of Reboot: Leadership and the Art of Growing Up and Reunion: Leadership and the Pursuit of Belonging, books in which he weaves together his own personal journey with the insights he has gained from years of coaching leaders. A core concept of his is “my story is your story”: when we have the courage to share our own stories, including the difficult parts, others recognize their own experiences reflected in them.
He also practices what he preaches: he prioritizes rest, takes two months off every year, meditates and dedicates time to his community.
